Specification Guide

Overview

Disciplines is a container element that aggregates one or more Discipline children to classify the analytical methodologies and intellectual frameworks employed by a research organization (e.g. Investment, Strategy, Economics). It exists to let research consumers filter and select providers by their analytical approach — for example fundamental versus technical analysis — when evaluating organizational capabilities (sources: data-dictionary-2.4 p.28, example-company-advanced-2.4).

Usage

Disciplines appears as an optional child of Expertise, where it sits alongside other capability descriptors such as PublishingLanguages, Specialties, and AssetClasses. When present, it must contain at least one Discipline child, and multiple Discipline entries are supported to describe organizations that operate across several methodologies [RIXML Research Data Dictionary v2.4 p.28]. Use Disciplines to declare the research approaches an organization applies to its coverage universe — this helps consumers match providers to their own analytical preferences and investment decision-making processes [Company Report (Advanced) Sample v2.4].
